Jennifer got my sympathy from the beginning. She’s a good girl who falls for a man who is not all that he seems. Rodrigo sweeps her off her feet and then sacrifices all to be with her. Not just once, but twice. And Chidi, the faithful friend who attempts to stay by Jennifer’s side through it all but wonders if her friend is spiraling down a path of self-destruction.
I appreciated the easy-flowing writing style and the way the author is honest about how the characters’ choices influence their lives. There are real consequences to wrong choices, but a thread of redemption–all hinging around a rosebush–works its way through this story in an uplifting way.
Rodrigo got on my nerves a few times with his immature behavior, but all the more opportunity for the author to show his journey of growth and faith! Also, although a clean Christian romance, I don’t recommend this book for younger readers.
I recommend this book because it’s fresh, from a great new voice, and a fun contemporary romance that I greatly enjoyed!
