Susanna Truitt is three weeks from royalty.
Short and sweet, this novella is a darling complement to Once Upon a Prince.
While I expected it to begin where Once Upon a Prince (or maybe A Princess Ever After) ends, I instead jumped into Susanna and Nathaniel’s story a handful of months later. Three weeks before the wedding. Tensions are high as wedding planning ends and political maneuvering begins. Susanna is, after all, marrying a king! And not everyone likes that she is an American.
Rachel continued the realistic styling that I loved in the first book of a fictional European country with its own set of laws and red tape hang-ups for the “royal” couple. The actions a certain law made necessary, while fast-paced, drew me in.
Susanna took off a little fast for me. But this is a novella after all, and I think Rachel did a good job of portraying a fair amount of romantic and political conflict in a short amount of words. I wish it had been longer, but I loved the way it ended!
I recommend this book for princess lovers for myself, but don’t miss reading the first book (the long version of Susanna and Nathaniel’s love story) first!
