The Captive Imposter by Dawn Crandall

The Captive Imposter (The Everstone Chronicles, #3)

She’s never been freer to be herself than when she’s with him. But will he still love her when he finds out who she really is?

First, I loved that I didn’t know who the hero was when I first started this book. Because I’ve read The Hesitant Heiress and The Bound Heart, I had a preconceived notion of who would earn the heroine’s heart. Without giving anything away, I’d just like to say I was pleasantly surprised to discover the happy ending was who I wanted it to be with.

Dawn Crandall does a stellar job of painting the time period in such a way that this book neither feels overly meticulous or mundane. There are details that put me in the time and place, but I like that the love story takes precedence. I am and always will be a huge history fan, but the main theme of this story is twining two hearts together.

Mission accomplished. Splendidly.

A blend of elegant drama and mystery, The Captive Imposter tells the story of a love unexpected. Dawn Crandall quickly became a favorite author with her first two books, and the element of hidden identity in The Captive Imposter entwines with the style I’ve come to expect from Crandall–resulting in one satisfying read.

I highly recommend it.

About the Author

A graduate of Taylor University with a degree in Christian Education, and a former bookseller at Barnes & Noble, Dawn Crandall didn’t begin writing until her husband found out about her long-buried dream of writing a book. Without a doubt about someday becoming traditionally published, he encouraged her to quit her job in 2010 in order to focus on writing The Hesitant Heiress. It didn’t take her long to realize that writing books was what she was made to do. The Everstone Chronicles is Dawn’s first series with Whitaker House. All three books in the series were semifinalists in ACFW’s prestigious Genesis Writing Contest, the third book going on to become a finalist in 2013.
