A jilted bride desperate to save her family from ruin.
A bounty hunter seeking vengeance for a ravaged past.
An arduous trek toward justice–or redemption.
This is my first of Robin Lee Hatcher‘s books. I read it in less than 24 hours and wondered what took me so long to read one of her novels!.
Silver is a beautiful tomboy determined to be strong–especially after being stood up at the altar and faced with the potential of her family’s financial ruin. Convinced the fate of her father’s mercantile is in her hands since her former fiancee is the thief who put her in this predicament, she hires Jared to find the man. And the gold.
Little does she know Jared is already on a manhunt of his own. I enjoyed how Silver and Jared’s motivations were crystal clear from the beginning; they are driven to get justice. Well, this drive carries them across the West!
I love Silver’s name, but I would have liked to know just how she came by it. Also, the scene where Jared and Silver finally realize that they’re on this mission together–but for different reasons…I would have liked to see that happening because it seems important, but it’s almost skimmed over. Still, the pacing doesn’t suffer, as we’re almost immediately right back on a horse and traipsing through the desert with the jilted bride and her bounty hunter!
Complete with danger, mysteries, and surprise revelations, this book follows two hearts as they pursue what they think they want and discover what they really want is each other. The faith message, strong yet subtle, was probably my favorite part. I’ll be looking for more of Robin Lee Hatcher‘s books!
