Devin and I accomplished a whole lot before we moved in this summer but here’s a peek at some of our first post-move priorities!
We didn’t take much of a break after moving in, although we did celebrate my birthday and our second wedding anniversary with a short trip to the beach.
When we got back, we rolled up our sleeves and focused on my favorite room: the kitchen! We installed a brand-new faucet that is much more functional than the decades-old one that came with the house and re-caulked all around it. Then we…
*drumroll please*
…removed all the cabinet doors!
And not because I like the “open” look, but because we’re totally redoing the kitchen. The old flat wooden doors were orange-y with shellac. At first I thought I wanted to just stain them darker to match the floors.
I tried stain after stain and just couldn’t decide which one I liked!
Then I realized I was drawn to white kitchens on Pinterest and my decision was made.
So instead of staining the kitchen cabinets, we’re painting every single one, adding new hardware, and the best part is Devin is sawing and adding new borders to the kitchen cabinets so they’re truly shaker-style now and beautiful. I’m in love and can’t wait to post pictures of the finished product.
That’s right we’re not yet done with that kitchen remodel we started in June! Although we no longer have to drive all the way to the house from our apartment in order to work on projects, we’re realizing things go a bit slower when you live there.
In the time we’ve lived here, I’ve also removed all the old floral contact paper that was in our kitchen cabinets. I’m laying new fresh white paper that looks amazingly clean compared to what was there.
Just outside the kitchen, we spent an entire Saturday over Labor Day weekend re-landscaping our entire front yard. It looks incredible and once again we owe my mom and grandma a huge thanks!
Also this summer, I decided I wanted to take on a project I could finish quickly (see above about how long the kitchen is taking us!) and so I gave my desk a makeover.

I’ll blog again as soon as I can show off our finished kitchen!
