Anna Emory grew up the invisible younger sister, shy and quiet, and she prefers it that way. But her father’s attempts to arrange an unsavory marriage teach her that courage is sometimes found in adversity. Then she meets a boy and his father who tip her quiet world upside down.

Captain Mathieu Tudder has run from responsibility, entrusting his young son’s care to another and devoting his Sea Beggar ship to the cause of the Dutch Revolution. After the cause fails, Tudder returns to England for the son he left behind, all he has left of the wife he lost. But Titus prefers a mysteriously quiet nursemaid to his estranged father.

Tudder wants his son back, yet Anna stands in his way. Will these two hearts—the battle-scarred and the broken—ever find true freedom?

Six years ago I met this hunk. We celebrated by at Six years ago I met this hunk. We celebrated by attending a wedding. @mrshadleynix3621 you chose a great day! #nixornothing #CobbEverAfter
Hi, my name is Rosalie and I’m 46 weeks old toda Hi, my name is Rosalie and I’m 46 weeks old today! So far my first March is going well; I like the weather and longer days.

This week I made strawberry muffins with Mommy that I then didn’t want to eat (more for Daddy!). I figured out I like playing with the baby thermometer. I can also open the toilet seat, and I’ve almost got the refrigerator hacked, too. Let the second round of baby-proofing begin!

My favorite toys include the lint roller and board books. I continue to sleep 11 hours a night like a champ, and now I can officially say that next month I turn one!

Hi, my name is Rosalie and I’m 45 weeks old toda Hi, my name is Rosalie and I’m 45 weeks old today! I’m opening my own hair salon; Daddy is my first client.

This week I figured out light switches and that I don’t like the sound of the the car alarm.

This beautiful spring weather means we’re enjoying lots of walks around local parks right now. Still not a fan of my car seat but something about that stroller is totally different!

Hi, my name is Rosalie and I’m 44 weeks old toda Hi, my name is Rosalie and I’m 44 weeks old today! I say “yeah” in reply to everything; otherwise everything is “uh-oh” or “da-da.” Unless it’s a “na-na” (🍌)!

I’m learning about sharing. This week Mommy and I were playing when she dropped a toy, and I picked it up and handed it back to her sweetly. But another night I faked her out and almost handed her something only to take it right back! We laughed and laughed at that!

I’m loving fruit, peanut butter on the spoon, and pork chops. I’m 17lbs now and in size 3 diapers! And watch out because I can high-five really hard!

Dear Rosalie, We had what felt like our first rea Dear Rosalie,

We had what felt like our first real conversation yesterday afternoon. We were playing on your play mat, just the two of us, when the phone rang.

“Da?” You looked straight at me as if you knew it was almost the hour when Daddy gets home.

“No, it’s probably GiGi calling to FaceTime,” I said as I stood up to check the phone on the kitchen counter.

“Oh!” You answered.

That first back-and-forth-with-real-words exchange felt like the first real glimpse at a change coming to our relationship, a time when you no longer communicate merely needs and wants but also opinions. Thoughts. Emotions bigger than yay-peas-for-lunch!

It’s only natural. You’re not alone, after all. Welcome to the world of opinions. Social media has made social distancing merely physical. The din of noise never really died. With one click, I have ready access to many mommy’s opinions on the best bottles, best bibs, best books for babies.

Here’s the problem with opinions: everybody’s got one.

Here’s my promise to you: I care about yours.

I care about your preferences about what’s for lunch, what onesie you wear today, and what you see as we go on our daily stroller walk. I love your chatter. I love YOU, and I want to know what’s going on in that growing brain of yours.

So does God. He loves you so, and He never sleeps, never needs to take a work call, never even steps away for one second. He loves your chatter. He loves YOU. He’s always watching over you, and He even understands your baby babble better than I. I can’t wait to teach you as you grow just how big His love is for you and how eager He is to hear you.

May you grow to be a woman who speaks to Him, listens to Him, listens to others, and speaks up for others.

Happy double digits day, happy 10 months, baby girl.

Hi, my name is Rosalie and I’m 43 weeks old toda Hi, my name is Rosalie and I’m 43 weeks old today! I am very ticklish and snuggly and into everything!

I’m especially curious about the internet router (or anything electronic that blinks, really) and laundry baskets (could there be treasure inside?! I always check to make sure!) and the fridge!

I dislike scrambled eggs but like sweet peas for breakfast, lunch, or dinner. Oh, yeah, and happy Valentine’s Day! 💕
